Sergeant Vinson Pelisari Jr. Canned Food Drive Results
On December 6th the Valley High School students began the Sergeant Vinson Pelisari Jr. Canned Food Drive. The original goal was to collect 600 items to donate to the Westmoreland County Food Bank. This goal was achieved in three days! The students increased their goal to 1,000 items. This goal was achieved in one week! Since the students crushed these goals, School Resource Officer Huth challenged the students to collect 4,000 items and $500. If we could meet this challenge, Officer Huth agreed to take a pie to the face. Our students once again rose to the challenge and surpassed anything that we could have imagined! When it became clear that we would collect over 10,000 items, New Kensington Police Chief Deringer agreed to be pied along with Officer Huth. Our partnership with the New Kensington Police Department has resulted in us collecting an astonishing 11,257 items for the food bank! This successful partnership is a wonderful tribute to the memory of Sergeant Vinson Pelisari Jr.
